Professor Murray’s Speech

Professor Murray’s speech seemed somewhat chaotic and overwhelming at first, for he was throwing out a lot of ideas. But as the lecture continued we began to fathom some of his ideas and the value of teamwork. It was great to see so many examples of what couldn’t have been done unless it was teamwork projects. I know that teamwork has been an old idea in the west, even for design. But in Taiwan, with many middle to small sized businesses, the culture has truly played its role and heavily influenced the designers as well. For smaller businesses, most projects only require independent designers, also known as SOHOs, to complete the work. Thus, it is difficult for us to experience the process of working as a team. However, I think this might be the key to Taiwan’s next step as Original Design Manufacturer.
